Foot Care in Winters
Don't let the winter affect your feet. Here's how you can keep
your feet safe during this cold weather.
It's wintertime again; you packup your monsoon footwear and bring
out your leather shoes and fancy footwear to show off your pedicured
feet. Remember your feet need special attention during winter because
they become more prone to dryness and even fungal infections.
1. Wear thick socks to keep your feet warm, but make sure they
aren't too tight.
2. When at home, soak your feet in lukewarm water. Never use hot
water.
3. Dry feet well especially in between the toes.
4. Moisturise well and keep them warm by wearing socks or soft
slippers.
5. Fungus ca enter through cracked skin. To prevent skin from cracking
use a good moisturiser.
6. But do not use in between your toes as they breed fungus easily.
7. Before going to bed knead your feet gently with your thumbs
to increase blood circulation.
8. To refresh your feet after a third day soak your water in warm
water with Epsom salts and a drop of peppermint oil.
9. Avoid tight footwear in cold weather. Tight shoes may decrease
circulation.
10. Wear cotton socks, which absorb sweat, and wash them everyday.
11. Cut the toenails straight across.
12. Go winter shopping for footwear in the evening. You foot swells
up by the end of the day. Your foot size can change as you age.
When you buy a shoe, make sure you can stick your index finger in
the back of the shoe.
