How to get rid of your acne
Acne is a common inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous gland just
below the skin surface. It is characterized by the recurring formation
of black heads, white heads and pimples.
Primarily, acne occurs on the face but in some cases, it may be
noticed by the back, shoulders, chest and arms.
Combating Acne
1. Remove your makeup before you go to sleep. When buying makeup,
make sure you choose brands that say "noncomedogenic"
or "nonacnegenic" on the label. Throw away makeup that
is three months old or older.
2. Do not pick or squeeze our blackheads and pimples - As tempting
as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples
and blackheads. Doing any of these actions, actually increases the
sebum production. Plus, when you squeeze, you are actually rupturing
the membranes below your skin, causing infection and sebum to spread
underneath your skin. The result is more pimples.
3. Zinc is an antibacterial agent. A diet low in zinc can cause
acne breakouts. First use the warm water to wash the face (to remove
dirt) and use cold water to rinse.
4. Wash your pillowcase often and always use clean face towels.
Dirty towels and pillowcases can harbor germs that can make acne
worse.
5. Drink an adequate amount of water daily. Many recommend three
to four tall glasses and mineral or filtered water. Too little water
can lead to dehydration, which can lead to dead skin cells not naturally
falling off or sloughing properly; the end result can be blocked
pores, acne.
6. Crush a regular aspirin into a powder and mix it with a little
water to form a paste. Cover the pimple with a paste before bed.
In three nights the pimple will scab and fall off. Even taking two
baby aspirin a day can help. Pimples are an inflammation, and aspirin
reduces it.
7. Vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin E, Zinc, Selenium,
and Magnesium are important to healthy skin cells, hormonal balance,
and maintaining a strong immune system. Taking a multivitamin that
contains 100% of the recommended daily value of these vitamins and
minerals is helpful to the prevention of acne.
8. Apply ice to the area for 2 minutes every half hour. This will
help shrink the pimple and possibly reduce it to an invisible size.
9. Herbs can be one of your best natural acne treatments. Do not
look for over night results though. Herbs work gently and build
up in your system over time. Allow 3-4 weeks consistent usage before
examining effectiveness of treatment. Take prescribed doses as detailed
on your bottle.
