Tattooing : Precautions To Be Taken

Don't

Remove the bandage/covering on your new tattoo for at least 4 hours.

Go swimming, or soak in a hot tub or bath.

Expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for the first 30-60 days. Sunlight can fade ink, and can also cause the freshly healed skin above the ink to become milky, making the tattoo less distinct.

Itch, pick, or scratch the tattoo.

Shave over your tattoo until it has healed.

Use hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on your tattoo.

Rebandage your tattoo

Let your pets rub or lick your fresh tattoo. If your pet comes in contact with your fresh tattoo then you should wash it off ASAP.

Do

Apply sun block whenever it is exposed to protect it from damaging UV rays.

Wash your tattoo gently with soap and water immediately upon removing the bandage, until all the slime is gone.

Make sure clothing touching your tattoo is clean and soft.

Do some research on the tattoo you are wanting to get. Make sure you know what you are getting and if it is something you want for the rest of your life.

Do make sure to wash your hands before applying the aftercare product to your new tattoo.

Ask your friends for a reputable artist, drop your question on tattoo forums and visit different tattoo studios before deciding.
